At Malaysia's Singapore Station...
Indian glorifies Pak beauties

Singapore:

Until November, canteen-owner Mahmoodul Hasan, 60, dreamed of setting up a hair-care saloon at Malaysia's KTM Railway Station off Keppel Road.

Now, where he had planned to install comfy barber chairs, he sells exquisite, leather-lined rosewood rocking chairs -- stuff that is fit for maharajas and probably not on sale anywhere else in the island-city.

He also sells other rare handicrafts: captain's boxes, picnic tables, writing tables, stools, corner telephone stands, tea-and-snacks trolleys, centre tables, side tables, magazine racks, hexa boxes, six-legged inter-locking candle-stands made of single wood-piece. All are  intricately carved, cut and embossed with skillful brass inlay and lacquer work.
